Manaslu with a range of mountains located in between Annapurna to the west and Ganesh Himal in the east direction, the word Manaslu comes from ancient Hindu Sanskrit word as ‘Manas’ means mind and soul of the god, wherein local the language of Tibetan origin called as ‘Kutang’ for Manaslu.
Mt. Manaslu stands as world 8th highest at above 8,163 m and 26,781 ft first climbed by Japanese Expedition in 1955 with a team of Nepalese Sherpa guides. Around Manaslu begins with an exciting drive from Kathmandu to reach low warm areas of Gorkha at Arughat and then further to start walks heading higher up following raging Buri Gandaki River upstream to its glacial source at high and scenic Manaslu valley.
The walk leads towards high green hills past nice and interesting villages of Soti and Machha-Khola, Tatopani to Jagat onwards to Philip and Dying then on a high valley of Manaslu where tree lines drop for arid and barren terrain enclosed with high peaks. Having time to explore around nice villages of strong Tibetan influence with Buddhism religion and fascinating culture, after acclimatization days at Sama- Gaon heading to cross high Larke-La pass at above 5,106 m to reach back into a green forest at Manang district.
The walk continues downhill facing amazing scenery of high snow-capped peaks to reach on the road-head at Dharapani for an interesting long drive back to Kathmandu, after a glorious time and adventure on Around Manaslu Trekking with great service of White Lotus Adventure Treks.

Trek Itinerary Detail:Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel.

Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities where you can join in our sightseeing tour around the city places of Interest as Kathmandu valley steeped with world heritage sites, rest of the day preparing for Around Manaslu trekking.Day 03: Drive to Soti-Khola 700 m - 06 hrs.
Morning exciting drive towards Nepal Mid West as journey leads to lower warm mid slopes past homestead towns and towns with perspectives on snow-topped pinnacles. As drive continues with few refreshing stops head west to reach Gorkha areas within a warm sub-tropical country at Arughat.
Drive continues from Arughat past farm villages and terraced fields with numerous streams and then on the bank of Buri Gandaki through cultivated land, with many scattered farmhouses and hamlets to Mordar, Simre, and Arket villages.
After a short while heading to a river for the overnight stop at Soti Khola, with time to relax and stroll around the village.Day 04: Trek to Machhe-Khola 869 m - 05 hrs.
From Soti-khola, walk begins to steep climb around dense forest and past number of little towns tucked in a slope, at that point achieving a wide valley inverse at the point where a large tributary stream enters into Burhi-Gandaki River. The terraced developed field has a place with the upper town of Lapbesi. From here our path descends to a wide, sandy riverbed following a trail meandering below the steep, craggy valley side.
At some length leading to a climb on the trail to Machha Khola for overnight stop, with a number of teashops and a small lodge, the word Maccha Khola means Fish Stream.Day 05: Trek to Dobhan 1,070 m via Tatopani (Hot Spring) - 06 hrs.
From here coming across interesting farm villages with neatly cultivated fields as vegetation change slowly as altitude gains with the climate, walk to cross a stream where Machha Khola (Fish stream) name comes from, then over upstream towards Khola-Bensi village with Tatopani a place with natural "hot spring".
As walk continues where valley becomes much narrow and steeper, where our trail switches to the left bank of the river and then crossing a suspension bridge, after a short period of walk entering a patch of forest and then reaching Doban located on the high shelf of Burigandaki River.Day 06: Trek to Jagat 1,340m- 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads across a broad gravel field towards Lauri stream and then crossing suspension bridge which leads to a climb on high trails and then descending into the open valley of Yara Khola, where our journey continues on for another hour to the village of Jagat.
Jagat a nice looking farm village of moderate size after Arughat; people here with mix race Magar, Chettries, Brahman, Manaslu Bhotia (Tibetan origin people) with some Newar people a lodge owner and shopkeepers.Day 07: Trek to Dyang 1,860m- 05 hrs.
Walk from Jagat descends to a long stone step to reach a river, where path climbs on a terraced hillside at Saguleri, with distance view of Sringi Himal 7,187m, walk continue with ups and down a trail as our route reach at a bridge over Buri-Gandaki.
After crossing over a bridge where our trail winds up to reach at Philim village for short break and to observe this nice farm village with rich cultivated fields and terraces. After a good refreshing stop at Philim, walk from here leads higher past scattered farm villages with a climb through terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, to reach a rocky ridgetop covered within bamboo forest area towards Eklai Bhatti means a lonely Inn, at present few more shops has been coming up.
After a rest walk towards higher Manaslu area, where our route diverts toward North West to reach our overnight stop at Dyang a small nice village of Tibetan culture.Day 08: Trek to Namrung 2,630 m - 05 hrs.
Morning stroll from Deng prompts a lot cooler area with an increment of height gain, as our course leads higher regions and after that with short downhill to a streamside to achieve a spot called Bihi Bazaar a little town almost a waterway side. From Bihi where walk pursues Buri Gandaki River, at that point crossing a stream to enter little homestead towns, developed ranch fields of grain, wheat, and millets to reach at Numrung town with first close perspectives on Mt. Manaslu North Face and connecting tops. From here onwards where you can see more towns of solid Tibetan impact with the comparative culture of Buddhism right around high Manaslu valley.Day 09: Trek to Lo-Gaon 3,180 m - 05 hrs.
With a peaceful overnight stop at Namrung, walk leads to more spread out farm fields and Yak herder huts and shelter, around this high Manaslu valley people are much engaged in farming during summer, where young folks in winter travels to big cities of Nepal and India for trade and to escape the cold winter. From here walk leads to high and scenic valley all the way to Lo Gaon a nice village for an overnight stop, this will be one of the attractive villages around Manaslu region, at Lo enjoy close views of towering Manaslu North Face, Around Lo, visit its monastery with numerous chhorten and Mani walls with views of Ganesh Himal towards east.Day 10: Trek to Sama-Gaon 3,530 m -05 hrs.
From Lo-Gaon walk is much easier but with a difference as high altitude wise where route leads to a slow and gradual climb with constant views of a mountain with Peak 29 ahead, after couple hour climb reaching into a patch of forest reaching at Shala village with excellent view of Phungi, Manaslu and Himal Chuli. Walking for a few hours further where day completes on reach Sama-Gaon village, with a superb view of Mt. Manaslu.
Sama-Gaon village one of the largest within high Manaslu Valley, where natives are mostly farmers cultivating buckwheat, barley which are the main crops in this high and harsh terrain, potatoes and some high and cold vegetables are also grown. Villagers around high Manaslu valley descended from South West Tibet way back more than 400 years of history were custom and culture of ancient Buddhist heritage similar to its origin Tibetan predecessor.
The local villagers are still active with trade and bartering across the border with Tibet taking few days to reach the frontier of Nepal and Tibet, actually located on old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade route of the two countries.Day 11: At Sama-Gaon rest day for acclimatization and local excursion.
A free and rest day in this interesting village to support acclimatization before heading higher towards Larke-la Pass, with spare day to explore this nice and scenic area and visit its old Monastery of Nyligpa (red hat sect) sect of Buddhism.Day 12: Trek to Samdo 3,690 m - 05 hrs.
After a pleasant rest at Sama-Gaon, today a pleasant walk of more than four hours to reach the last village of Gorkha and Manaslu valley at Samdo, morning walk starts with slow climb as elevation gradually gains with dry much air which makes walk slower than earlier past days, trading slowly taking time for short break to enjoy surrounding beautiful views of peaks and dramatic terrain.
With an exciting walk on a high valley of Manaslu and then reaching Samdo village taking a short climb to reach a small flat plateau where village located, a moderate size village of more than forty houses with about two hundred villagers living this high harsh country.Day 13: Trek to Larke Phedi / Dharama-Shala 4,470 m - 04 hrs.
On leaving the last final village of upper Manaslu valley, where walk leads to the end of the valley facing incredible views of snow capped peaks of Manaslu which is also known as Kutang in local language. As walk continues crossing few icy streams to reach at Larke Phedi means bottom of the pass, also called Dharmasala (travelers rest house / shade), where in old days which was also known as Larkey Bazaar, at Larke Phedi afternoon free for short walks and preparations for next early morning long climb to cross high Larke-La pass and to reach Manang areas.Day 14: Cross Larke-La 5,106 m trek to Bhimthang 3,790 m -07 hrs.
After Larke Phedi, morning walk leads to steep climb over moraine of rocks and Boulders, following north of Larke glacier, with grand views of Cho Danda with Larke Peak.
As walk progress with gradual ascent and much steeper to reach at the top of Larke-la festooned with thousands of Buddhist colorful prayer flags. At the top marvel excellent panorama of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II a includes series of Manaslu peaks.
From here a long descend reaching to a valley called Larcia, with further hour walks on moraine ridge to Tambuche at 3,900m, the bottom of the pass, and then a short walk leads to Bhimthang for an overnight stop after a long, tough day walks.
Bhimthang a lovely place located on a wide green valley with a number of lodges adorned with prayer Mani walls, the area surrounded by green tall trees of rhododendron-pines and oaks.Day 15: Trek to Gho 2,760 m - 06 hrs.
From Bhimthang rest of the journey is much easier with downhill walks with some a short climb on route to Gho and Dharapani villages, morning with views of peaks heading with a gradual walk into thick alpine woodland. Walking into beautiful forested areas to reach a small clearing in the midst of woodland at Gho for an overnight stop, a small cattle and yak herders summer pasture and temporary settlement due to trekkers passing this route, where few lodges have been built to cater the needs of travelers.Day 16: Trek to Dharapani 1,725 m -05 hrs.
Today, the last day walk of this great adventure around Manaslu a pleasant and leisure walks on downhill through wooded country to reach Telje village, a nice place by the raging Marysangdi River, with rest and stops the last climb of the trip from Telji after crossing a suspension bridge to reach large and nice lovely Dharapani.
This village located on the junction of famous and popular Annapurna Circuit trail and Around Manaslu Trekking route. Dharapani located on a river gorge with lovely tree lines around where motorable has been constructed since the past few years, the village provides excellent lodges.Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with a free afternoon.
After a marvelous adventure around Manaslu, completing our scenic walks taking a morning dive from Dharapani following Marysangdi River for sometimes past Tal Besi-Chamje and Jagat villages, downhill to warmer low areas back into paddy fields to reach a large town at Besisar, the headquarter of Lamjung district.
From Besisar switching to another vehicle for the exciting overland journey to Kathmandu, where drive leads past many farm villages and town, as our drive joins the main highway of Kathmandu and Pokhara at Dumre town, from here on easy and interesting drive to reach back to the city life of Kathmandu, with rest of the evening free at leisure.Day 18: International Departure homeward bound or respective countries.
