Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp trekking an adventure around scenic sides of high Khumbu valley in the shade of mighty Mt. Everest, where walks take you beautiful and simmering Gokyo Lakes with awesome views of Mt. Cho-Oyu, world sixth-highest.

A great journey full of the beautiful scenery of dramatic landscapes which includes the deep valley, high snow-capped peaks with rolling green hills covered with a lovely tall forest of rhododendron, pines, oaks, juniper, birch and silver fir trees. An interesting walk that leads you around Dudh-Kosi River gorge and valley within nice Sherpa farm villages after a short flight from Kathmandu to reach Lukla, a famous town where all treks and adventure begins and ends.

The walk continues to reach into Sagarmatha National Park listed as the world heritage sites enriched with exotic flora and vegetation includes mountain wild animals and various species bird-life. Adventure climbs to the large village and a town at Namche Bazaar where rest day for acclimatization included with time to catch glorious mountain views of Everest and beautiful Amadablam with other range of peaks.

From Namche our route diverts away from main base camp trails to reach high and scenic Gokyo valley and its emerald-colored lakes with high surrounding peaks, at Gokyo hike leads to Gokyo-Ri for a spectacular panorama of mountains which includes world’s highest peaks. After a great time at Gokyo valley and its nice lakes adventure leads to cross high Cho-la pass to reach at Everest Base Camp enclosed within giant mountains facing tumbling Khumbu Ice-Falls and glaciers includes a climb to scenic hill point at Kalapathar the highest spot of the trip with Everest at close view.

Finally, our marvelous adventure comes to an end heading back to Lukla on the main trail past Lobuche-Pheriche-Pangboche to beautiful Thyangboche and impressive monastery then reaching at Namche Bazaar. Enjoying time at Namche Bazaar last day walk leads to long descend with few ups to reach at Lukla for last overnight stop within high Khumbu and Everest region, where early morning short panoramic flight brings you at Kathmandu, after a great adventure with lifetime memories on Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp Trekking.

Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,320 and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Nepal international airport in Kathmandu received by White Lotus staff then drive to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, with time to get refreshed in your hotel rooms.

After checking and rest join in for group meeting and briefing regarding Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp trekking.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and walk to Phakding 2,645 m - 04 hrs.

Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic for scenic flight to land at Lukla town, where walk takes you around Sherpa villages along with views of high peaks to reach at Phakding village for overnight stop.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

Walk begins on a gradual winding path following Dudh Kosi River and crossing over bridges to enter Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha a name for Everest in Nepali where Sherpa of Tibetan origin calls Chomolungma), from here into river valley within forest area.

The climb starts from the last high bridge on winding and scenic trail to reach Namche Bazaar offers great nice lodge with many shops and stores including banks and ATM facilities along with views of peaks.

Day 04: In Namche for rest and acclimatization with short hike.

Enjoy rest or free day to help and support acclimatization on this high altitude above 3,440 m high, where one can take a short hike to viewpoints and museum of great interest, facing marvelous views of Everest, Amadablam, Kwangde, with Thermasarkhu and range of peaks.

Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110 m - 06 hrs.

Morning after two nights with good times at Namche, where walk leads to a climb towards high ridge of Namche, where the route leads on a wide trail with views of Everest and other peaks, walk leads past Kyajima near Sanasa village then steep climb for few hours to reach on top Mong Hill with some houses serving as Tea- House, shops and lodge.

Great views of snow-capped mountains from this scenic hill of Mong, walk carries on for short while with downhill for an hour within the cool forested area to reach at Phortse village for lunch by the side of Dudh Kosi River. After Phortse a slow climb into nice cool woodland to reach at Dole for overnight stop after a nice day walks.

Day 06: Trek to Machherma 4,465 m - 04 hrs.

After Dole tree lines disappear for few bushes of rhododendron and juniper, as walk meanders to the short steep climb and then on a level path for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then walk around the ridge line with the first glimpse of Machherma, located below a small valley, finally reaching at Machherma for an overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo Valley 4,800 m / 15,744 ft - 04 hrs.

Morning walk to Gokyo Valley and around calm lakes following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climbing a rocky path into ablation valley passing the first lake and second lake, then reaching the third lake called Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake. At the bank of the Lake where summer settlement located of Gokyo at 4,790 meters, after lunch a short walk of the lake with a view of Mt. Cho Oyo world’s 6th highest, and Gyachung Kang with a reflection on emerald Gokyo Lake.

Day 08: Hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,483 m and walk to Thagnak 4,750 m -04 hrs.

Morning hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,357m the highlight of this journey the top offers an awesome panorama of world’s highest mountains Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east views of Mt. Makalu. After a great exciting moment descend to Gokyo for lunch and continue short afternoon walk to reach the base of Cho-la pass at Thagnak for the overnight stop enjoy surrounding beautiful sceneries.

Day 09: Cross Cho-la Pass 5,367 to Dzongla 4,680 m - 07 hrs.

Starting early at the crack of dawn having quick breakfast with pack lunch then heading for a climb over the moraine of rocks and boulders as route leads to strenuous walks to reach the top of Tsho or Cho-La pass with incredible close views of Cholatse, Taboche, Nirekha and Lobuche peaks, after a rest on top enjoying views, then slowly descend towards Dzongla for overnight halt in a quiet and isolated spot with few good lodges to stay.

Day 10: Trek to Lobuche 4,890 m - 05 hrs.

After a nice overnight at Dzongla, morning walk leads to a short climb to a ridge with some monuments with views of high close peaks and then on the good gradual path. As route leads on the winding path with views of Cholatse and Taboche peaks as walk leads on a ridge top with memorials of unfortunate mountaineers who risk their life climbing high mountains around Khumbu and Everest. From here a good walk with gradual up to reach Lobuche located on a corner within wide valley beneath peaks of Lobuche East and West.

Day 11: To Everest Base Camp 5,365 m back at Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs.

From Lobuche to our highlight reaching Everest base camp, morning walk leads with slow climb above Khumbu glacier and moraine to reach a flat field at Gorakshep a place with few nice lodges. From Gorakshep continue to head east to reach at Everest base camp, on reaching our destination enjoy views of giant peaks with Khumbu Ice-Fall and glaciers, and then walk back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop.

Day 12: Climb Kalapathar at 5,545 m walk to Pangboche 3,900 m - 06 hrs.

Early morning where a hike of few hours takes you on top Kalapathar at 5,545 m, the highest spot of the adventure offers views of a mountain range with Everest and Pumori at close distance. From here descend to Gorakshep and walk downhill to Lobuche, walking past Thugla with more descend to reach Pheriche valley and its nice settlement as the walk continues on an easy downhill to Pangboche for an overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

With glorious time high above Khumbu valley morning starts to a long day walk past Thyangboche Monastery with downs and few strenuous up then on winding scenic trail to Namche for an overnight stop.

Day 14: Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.

Another long day but with more downhill to reach back at Dudh Kosi River valley and gorge and past Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo to reach Phakding village. From here continue to walk for a few hours on a good trail with last final climb of less than an hour to reach Lukla for last overnight stop within Khumbu and Everest region.

Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel end of the service.

Morning as per the time for the flight to Kathmandu transfer to Tenzing and Hillary The airport in Lukla, where a sweeping smooth scenic flight of 30 minutes brings you back to city life in Kathmandu and get transferred to your hotel.

Day 16: In Kathmandu spare and contingency days for individual activities.

Reserved this spare day as a contingency in case of flight delay and cancellation in Lukla or vice-versa, if all goes well according to our standard itinerary days enjoy free day for individual activities.

Day 17: International departure homeward bound.

As per your international flight time for homeward bound or to next respective destinations, depart from the hotel where White Lotus staff transfer you to Kathmandu International airport with final farewell after a great adventure and experience on Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp Trekking.
