Gokyo Valley Trekking a moderate adventure that leads you to high and scenic Yak grazing pasture-field around Gokyo. A place with outmost beauty located at the base of mighty Mt. Cho-Oyu . Also listed as world sixth highest at the height of 8.201 m and 26,906 ft high, straddles the border between Nepal and Tibet / China.

Gokyo Valley Trekking starts with sweeping scenic short flight to reach at Sherpa town in Lukla facing grandeur panorama of Himalayan peaks with Everest, from Lukla walk leads through beautiful Dudh Kosi River valley to reach high Namche Bazaar for rest and acclimatization.

Namche Bazaar an interesting place with nice lodge-hotels, shops and well stocked stores with great facilities for visitors and trekkers, from here visit leads to quaint and sleepy villages of Khunde and Khumjung witness immense culture and custom of the Sherpa people along with grand views of Everest and Amadablam.

From here heading high above scenic and picturesque areas at Gokyo Valley enclosed with high mountains with simmering glacial lakes, enjoying time and hike to Gokyo-Ri overlooking grand views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu with Makalu peaks covering scenery of whole Gokyo valley and the lakes. After a glorious moments where our journey completes heading back at Lukla for exciting flight to Kathmandu with great experience and enjoyable moments on Gokyo Valley Trekking.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,320 and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and walk to Phakding 2,645 m - 04 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.
Day 04: In Namche for rest and acclimatization with short hike.
Day 05: Trek to Khunde 3,880 m and Khumjung villages 3,653 m- 04 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Dole 4,110 m - 06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Machherma 4,465 m - 04 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,800 m - 04 hrs.
Day 09: At Gokyo rest day with hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,367 m.
Day 10: Trek to Dole - 06 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel end of the service.
Day 14: In Kathmandu spare and contingency days for individual activities.

Trek Itinerary Detail:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,320 and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Nepal international airport in Kathmandu received by White Lotus staff then drive to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, with time to get refreshed in your hotel rooms.

After checking and rest join in for group meeting and briefing regarding Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp trekking.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and walk to Phakding 2,645 m - 04 hrs.

Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic for scenic flight to land at Lukla town, where walk takes you around Sherpa villages along with views of high peaks to reach at Phakding village for overnight stop.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

Walk begins on gradual winding path following Dudh Kosi River and crossing over bridges to enter Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha a name for Everest in Nepali where Sherpa of Tibetan origin calls Chomolungma), from here into river valley within forest area.

Climb starts from the last high bridge on winding and scenic trail to reach at Namche Bazaar offers great nice lodge with many shops and stores including banks and ATM facilities along with views of peaks.

Day 04: In Namche for rest and acclimatization with short hike.

Enjoy rest or free day to help and support acclimatization on this high altitude above 3,440 m high, where one can take short hike to view points and museum of great interest, facing marvelous views of Everest, Amadablam, Kwangde, with Thermasarkhu and range of peaks.

Day 05: Trek to Khumjung 3,653 m via Khunde village 3,880 m - 04 hrs.

At Namche Bazaar with pleasant overnight stop walk uphill to reach a hill top, as route diverts with climb to Syangboche, a small settlement with an old airstrip. Facing views of mountains where walk is easier on gradual ups and down towards Khunde village and visit Khumbu only medical hospital built and run by Hillary and his Foundation. After interesting tour of the hospital a slow descends takes you to overnight stop at Khumjung, one of the largest village of Khumbu area after Namche Bazaar.

Khunde and Khumjung villages located within scenic glacial valley beneath the peaks of holy Khumbila, the patron god of Khumbu Sherpa. Here with time visit it another old monastery, the one and only place where you can witness a scalp believed to be of Yeti, which is kept safe and secure in a glass box where visitors to see with some donation.

Day 06: Trek to Dole 4,110 m - 06 hrs.

Morning after nights with good times at Khumjung, where walk leads to short descend and then climb towards high ridge on top Mong Hill with some houses serving as Tea-House, shops and lodge. Great views of snow capped mountains from this scenic hill of Mong, walk carries on for short while with downhill for an hour within cool forested area to reach at Phortse village for lunch by the side of Dudh Kosi River.

After Phortse a slow climb into nice cool woodland to reach at Dole for overnight stop after a nice day walks.

Day 07: Trek to Machherma 4,465 m - 04 hrs.

After Dole tree lines disappears for few bush of rhododendron and juniper, as walk meanders to short steep climb and then on level path for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then walk around ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, located below a small valley, finally reaching at Machherma for overnight stop.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Valley 4,800 m / 15,744 ft - 04 hrs.

Morning walk to Gokyo Valley and around calm lakes following scenic trail toPangka 4,545m, at that point climbing a rough way into removal valley passing the primary lake and second lake, at that point achieving third lake called Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake. At the bank of the Lake where summer settlement located of Gokyo at 4,790 meters, after lunch a short stroll of the lake with perspective on Mt. Cho Oyo world's sixth most noteworthy, and Gyachung Kang with reflection on emerald Gokyo Lake.

Day 09: At Gokyo rest day with hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,367 m.

Morning hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,367m the highlight of the journey the top offers awesome panorama of world’s highest mountains Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east views of Mt. Makalu. After a great exciting moment descend to Gokyo for lunch and overnight with free afternoon to enjoy surround beautiful sceneries of lakes and mountains.

Day 10: Trek to Dole - 06 hrs.

Starting early at the crack of dawn having quick breakfast with pack lunch then heading for a climb over moraine of rocks and boulders as route leads to strenuous walks to reach at the top of Tsho or Cho-La pass with incredible close views of Cholatse, Taboche, Nirekha and Lobuche peaks, after a rest on top enjoying views, then slowly descend towards Dzongla for overnight halt in a quiet and isolated spot with few good lodges to stay.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

With glorious time high above Khumbu valley morning starts to a long day walk past Thyangboche Monastery with downs and few strenuous up then on winding scenic trail to Namche for overnight stop.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.

Another long day but with more downhill to reach back at Dudh Kosi River valley and gorge and past Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo to reach at Phakding village. From here continue walk for few hours on good trail with last final climb of less than an hour to reach Lukla for last overnight stop within Khumbu and Everest region.

Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel end of the service.

Morning as per time for flight to Kathmandu transfer to Tenzing and Hillary airport in Lukla, where sweeping smooth scenic flight of 30 minutes brings you back to city life in Kathmandu and get transferred to your hotel.

Day 14: In Kathmandu spare and contingency days for individual activities.

Reserved this spare day as contingency in case of flight delay and cancellation in Lukla or vice-versa, if all goes well according to our standard itinerary days enjoy free day for individual activities.

Day 15: International departure homeward bound.

As per your international flight time for homeward bound or to next respective destinations, depart from the hotel where White Lotus staff transfer you to Kathmandu International airport with final farewell after a great adventure and experience on Gokyo Valley Trekking.
