Tamang Heritage Trekking begins with an exciting drive from the capital Kathmandu heading due north to reach Langtang Himal area around Rasuwa district the home to many Tamang people. The walk starts from the nice village of Syabrubesi heading towards nice cultural villages of Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, and Bridim where you will be greeted in traditional Buddhist custom enjoying time with local Tamang villagers in the shade of high mountains of Ganesh and Langtang Himal.

Enjoying moments around impressive villages and visiting old monasteries with the climb over scenic hills with grand views of snow-peaks then heading back to Kathmandu after a great experience with fabulous memories on Tamang Heritage Trekking.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Drive to Syabrubesi by bus 1,462 m / 4,795ft - 07 hrs.
Day 02: Trek to Gatlang 2,238 m / 7,340 ft - 05 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Tatopani 2607m/ 8,550ft - 06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Thuman 2,400 m via Nagthali Hill 3,156 m - 06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Bridim 2,229 m-05 hrs.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Drive to Syabrubesi by bus 1,462 m / 4,795ft - 07 hrs.

Morning starts with scenic drive from Kathmandu valley, journey leads North direction past Nuwakot area with town and villages to reach at Dhunche, headquarter town of Rasuwa area, where Langtang National park begins, Dhunche at 1,900 m. From here downhill on winding road to reach at Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.

Day 02: Trek to Gatlang 2,238 m / 7,340 ft - 05 hrs.

After Syabrubesi village morning first day walk leads to nice village at Gatlang past Goljung, as route heads into many farm villages within Tamang cultural area with views of Ganesh Himal with Langtang Lirung peaks. As trek leads past farm villages and then with slow climb to reach a large Tamang villages at Gatlang for overnight stop, on reaching greeted with Khada (religious silk scarf) and then transfer to local home-stay for overnight, with time to visit around the villages and interact with the locals.

Gatlang, perched on a hill top with nice tended terraced farms and stone houses of traditional architecture of Tibetan style, visit local old monastery and beautiful Parvati-Kunda Lake at Gatlang, with cultural show of Goljung and Gatlang makes your stay a special.

Day 03: Trek to Tatopani 2607m/ 8,550ft - 06 hrs.

The walk begins with descent to Thangbuchet, on the way views of Langtang peaks and Ganesh Himal with Tibet Mountains in the north, walk leads past small farm villages and into alpine woodland to reach at Tatopani for an overnight stop.

Afternoon visit hot springs ‘Tatopani’ means hot water rising from the fresh spring with time for short walk around villages.

Tatopani mean "hot water"believed a dip in the spring heals you from pain and aches and relaxes your tired muscles, an afternoon with time to experience Tamang culture explore around as well interacting with the locals.

Day 04: Trek to Thuman 2,400 m via Nagthali Hill 3,156 m - 06 hrs.

Morning walk from Tatopani leads to Thuman via high Nagthali and Bimthang as our route leads into alpine forest, chances of spotting monkeys and deer or rare endangered Red Panda.

On reaching Nagthali with clear views of Langtang Himal, Kerung, Ganesh Himal. Nagthali, at one time a popular meditation center of local monks and priests, from here another hour walk to reach at Thuman, where you can observe local villages farm life with Shamanic performances with view of Langtang Himal.

Day 05: Trek to Bridim 2,229 m-05 hrs.

From Thuman trek to Briddim village on route visit nearby historical Rasuwa-Gadi the border of Nepal / Tibet, China with an old fort.

The fort a historical reminder of Nepal and Tibet trade and cultural relations that existed for many centuries till present, as walk today takes you to nice area with views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal.

A pleasant walk on winding path with climb to a ridge with views of mountains and surrounding landscapes and then enter into rhododendron, pines and oaks forest, then climb with short descend to Briddim for overnight stop. Briddim, another Tibetan style Buddhist village located on old trade route of Nepal and Tibet here observe folk and cultural show perform by local community.

Day 06: Trek and drive to Kathmandu past Syabrubesi - 06 hrs.

Our final day of fabulous walk, morning back to near Syabrubesi on the road head to Kathmandu, downhill past farm fields with nice tended terraces to reach at Syabrubesi and past Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal as journey reaches Kathmandu after an enjoyable and great moment on Tamang Heritage Trekking.
